i've been listening to a lot of new music. bob dylan has become my FAVORITE although i feel that highway 61 revisited is a bit overrated. the man is a singing songwriting god for sure. I'M CURRENTLY WORKING ON A PRESENTATION ON his life and his influence FOR MY HISTORY CLASS AND I DECIDED TO GO BACK TO SOME HIS CLASSIC RELEASES. I LOVED THEM EVEN MORE A SECOND TIME AROUND. THE MAN IS TIDE OF TRUTH AND ELOQUENCE. DYLAN REALLY SPEAKS LIKE NO OTHER.i still will always have a deep love for elliot smith. songs such as "Say yes", "angeles" and "the Last Hour" are some out of the many beautiful compositions of his material. i've been getting into aphex twin since thom loves him a lot. selected ambient works i and ii are both great works. he is a goofy as hell and he has an eccentric sound to him. i had to go back to one of my favorite albums, "dive" by tycho. great sleeping and ROAD TRIP music. james blake released his fourth album, "assume form" and it sounds fantastic. he ends his record with the song, "LULLABY for my insomniac". it might be one of the best synth/electronic compositions in the last decade. Of course i can't not talk about rap and HIP HOP. i've been RE-LISTENING to some of jay z's classic tracks and they still sound better than most of the stuff put out by the current rap heavyweights. listen to dead presidents ii, roc boys (and the winner is), heart of the city. songs like his still have a certain tone of success and confidence that even his protege, kanye west has been able to emulate or maybe halfway considering tat kanye produced heart of the city for jay. HE WAS AFTER ALL MY FIRST RAPPER, HIM AND EMINEM. both men are released albums recently. one is a fantastic and personal rap record while the other is a cringeworthy attempt at politically conscious, pseudo-intellectual rap. you can sort who's who yourself. jay's spouse's album is a pretty pop record. lemonade is beyonce's best work. other artists which are intriguing to me in the genre are people like playboi carti and jpegmafia. both artists have a certain energy to their music and they both emulate a hardcore punk, no holds barred feel. the aggression and moroseness is translated well to me. carti might be the more lighthearted one out of the two where as, peggy is close to a goddamn satirist and social critic with such witty critique on social media, the internet, and even the alt-right which. i haven't heard this from anyone. i still have my love for new order. morrissey just announced his first canadian tour in fifteen YEARs. i hope i can get tickets as the resale opens tomorrow. i've also been listening to a bit of classical music. it's beautiful beyond compare. "the lark ascending" by ralph vaughn williams, "piano concerto no.21 in c major" by mozart, "gymnopedie no.1" by erik satie and "liebestraume" by franz liszt are some of the many classical works i enjoy. i soon hope to attempt to get into opera as i enjoy puccini a litte bit but i'll have to do my homework on the medium itself.
